Brokers are being held back by their traditional reluctance to collaborate and share information and knowledge. The New Economy demands such collaboration. And now, for the first time, security components and encoding are available that assure confidentiality within collaboration.
Sophisticated customized load matching such as those described in the introduction to this business plan can indeed overtake twenty years of relationships built by brokers and other transportation intermediaries. Besides relationships, brokers must have the tools of Internet-enabled speed, accuracy and efficiency.
The biggest qualification for a stakeholder in TIE is the willingness to think outside-the-box and accept collaboration as a way of doing business in the b2b world.
The next qualification is to understand the concepts of b2b well enough to be able to trust the electronic capacity to maintain confidentiality, just as it does for stock brokers, real estate brokers, antique brokers and dotcoms.
There are compelling reasons to make this quantum leap to becoming a digital broker. We are the ones who deserve to profit from adding electronic transaction efficiencies to our own expertise and human resources. Let's not turn over this lucrative position to the late-comer dotcoms.
We HAVE to be out there with something as good as or better than the others, to maintain our position. A mindset that accepts this premise is the biggest qualification for a stakeholder broker.
Additional broker qualifications will be decided by the TIE Advisory Board. They include Internet access and competence.
Broker Incentives to Participate
