TIE VISION
To create a collaboration of transportation intermediaries in an Internet-enabled exchange using electronic communication to speed transactions and optimize benefits to collaborators, their customers and their carriers.
TIE MISSION
To create an exclusive business enterprise through which a network of highly qualified transportation brokers can use Internet-based technology and operations to allow easy access to electronic transactions while maintaining proprietary confidentiality of customer and carrier data.
TIE PURPOSE
The purpose of the Transportation Intermediaries Exchange (TIE) is to keep brokers squarely in the intermediary process, by speeding ordinary transactions through electronic connection and allowing transportation professionals to attend to special needs of customers.
It is widely accepted that electronic transactions alone cannot serve the full needs of the shipper. The human element is still what counts. Brokers and other transportation intermediaries have honed the skills of the transactions, negotiations and customer service.
Yet the very essence of their business is at risk, due to the invasion of electronic load matching exchanges that seem to be a viable option. At least they have the cutting edge appeal to draw attention and investigation.
Brokers must be able to show the marketplace that they too can apply cutting edge technology to the transaction.
This could be accomplished through a broker-based-and-controlled collaboration wherein brokers bring carriers and shippers to the table electronically and facilitate transactions over the Internet.
Imagine the strength that could be harnessed by firms that have both the transportation professionals AND the technology to speed transactions and make them more efficient and accurate.
That's what this enterprise is all about - matching the human factors involved in brokerage and other types of transportation intermediary services with the efficiency and speed of the Internet.
